4.Locate a country in the world that represents each stage of law
5. Explain why the country is currently in that particular stage of law
6. Provide a link to an article/website that proves your information
7. Start here...http://chartsbin.com/view/6kx (if for some reason this link is blocked, start by searching systems of government)

  1. 1. Revenge - I believe that Korea could represent this stage because it is currently still split in two and it (North Korea) is trying to seek revenge on other countries for their own wrong doings (http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/19/world/asia/australia-missionary-north-korea-detention/).
    2. Corruption - I believe that Cuba could represent this stage because it is in fact very corrupted ever since the Cuban Missile Crisis and how Americans aren't aloud to visit the island for many reasons. Also, the country is still in a communist state (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/cuba/).
    3. Court System - I believe that America could represent this stage because we were ones to really establish a well organized court system and use it for good cause. We are still currently in this stage because many big trials have been in effect for long periods of time and that is what we rely on to bring justice to the public (http://www.uscourts.gov/educational-resources/get-informed/federal-court-basics.aspx).
    4. Authority Formed - I believe that Spain could represent this stage fairly well because Spain has been known to be peaceful for years on end. They have a form of monarchy which has sufficed for decades and hasn't failed them at any time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarchy_of_Spain).

  2. 4. A) Quid Pro Quo - An example of a country involving its citizens taking revenge for wrongs done to them would be Somalia. In Somalia, it is custom for limbs to be taking from the owner for crimes committed. This country is not yet developed as others, which is one possible explanation for why ancient punishment tactics are still used today. (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/oct/20/somali-islamists-schoolboy-amputation-ordeal)

    B) A country today still using the a system of government where the sovereign is in charge would be Great Britain. This country has been following a structured system of government with the king/queen at the head of the government since it began. Currently, Queen Elizabeth is still head of the throne, which is why this system of government is still in place. (http://www.royal.gov.uk/hmthequeen/hmthequeen.aspx)

    C) A system of government using court systems as its governing body would be the United States. This country is currently in this stage of law because of several documents in place such as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These documents guarantee rights to citizens, which is why this country still uses this system of government. (http://www.justice.gov/)

    D) Countries using a system of laws to govern its people are most of the modern countries seen today. Laws are designed to guide people away from doing the wrong thing. Laws are always going to be needed, which is why most first-world countries have and will continue to keep these laws in place. (http://www.laws.com/)

  3. 1. Svalbard can be found in the first stage because it does not meet up to any other type of government.
    2. Saudi Arabia can be found in the second stage. It is an absolute monarchy which means a monarch rules unhindered where there are not any laws, constitutions, or legally organized opposition.
3.Bulgaria can be found in the third stage because it has laws that need to be followed. It is a parliamentary democracy this system allows the government to be chosen. The government consists of a prime minister, premier, or chancellor along with the cabinet ministers.
    4. America can be found in the fourth stage of the growth of law. The US has laws and regulations to prevent thins from happening. Which means if these laws are broken people are punished.

  4. 1. Currently, Bosnia is in the first stage of law. They are undergoing a rebellion against the government. They say that the protests are to create a better future for themselves, since the current government is not living up to their expectations. The goal of the rebellion is to create a better country to live in.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/07/us-bosnia-unrest-idUSBREA160UU20140207

    2. The second stage of law can be seen in Egypt, where the country is transitioning after a rebellion against the old president, Mohammed Morsi. Currently, they have people that are temporarily holding power pending elections. This is a good representation of the second stage of law, as a sovereign has taken charge, but no full government has been put in place yet.

    3. Somalia would represent the third stage of law, since they have not yet created full laws, but still have elders that serve as a form of judiciary system. Their form of council is called the Xeer, and helps to keep the peace. The third stage of law requires courts to be formed, so Somalia is a representation of this.

    4. The final stage of law can be seen in Russia, where new laws are being created everyday as the country is still recovering from the collapse of the Soviet Union. The country is trying to find its place in the world since its downgrade from superpower status, so many new laws are being put in place to ease transitions. An example of these revolutionary new laws is Russia's anti-gay laws, which arose in the past few years and are still being modified to this day.

  5. 1.) For revenge, Egypt I woul put it in revenge because Egypt is trying to over throw their government.
    http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/egypt/

2.) Court Systems; We, In America are in this court system to me because we are mostly well organized and have a better court system different from most countries.
I can't find the other two, or really know how to explain them.

    I can't

  7. Revenge:
A woman from Iran was blinded when a man she refused to marry threw a jar of acid on her. She requested to have the same punishment done to him once he was found guilty of his crime. A reason sentenced the man so, was to prevent acid attacks in the future. The idea of qisas is found in Iran Human Rights. This is the idea of taking the equivalence of what someone has taken from you.

    Exchange:
    Money laundering? Ethan Couch?
    Court:
Somalia uses xeer or elders, to judge a situation and settle it. Using xeer has been around for centuries and Somalis prefer it to courtrooms and prison.

    Law:
The United States of America has laws set in place that the citizens abide by. Laws were put in place to protect our rights, as well as to have permanent rules that the court wouldn’t need to re-reflect on. We have branches of government and superiors to enforce the laws at higher levels.

    4. Authority Formed- Spain, they are always peaceful to this day.

  12. 1) Venezuela is still sitting it the first stage because it deals with many instances of corruption. Many factors to eliminate corruption were futile. One instance of corruption was the $1.2 billion scam.

    2) China sits on this stage because it is unable to adapt to the environmental change after the Mao era. It suffers from patronage, bribery, and embezzlement in the government. This hasn't lowed down due to freedom in the economy.

    3) Though relatively higher than Venezuela and slightly above China, it still deals with graft, bringing it down from 50 to 40 on the corruption ratings. The Duke of Palma Iñaki Urdagarin was accused of embezzling money given to a charity.

    4) The United States is on the fourth and final stage because it has created several laws to prevent crimes from occurring. One instance is the illegalizing of large firearms and large-capacity magazines in Connecticut. This is due to the massacre in 2012.
