Read the scenario below and post your answers to the questions on the page titled "Agencies."

Bruce owned an apartment building.  He hired a maintenance manager named Tom to “make minor repairs requested by tenants such as fixing plumbing leaks, replacing light switches, and replacing broken garbage disposals.”  Things worked well until Tom ordered a new refrigerator and stove for one of the apts. without consulting Bruce.  Tom had given the business card Bruce printed for him to the appliance store.  The card described Tom as the “Manager of Maintenance” for the apt. complex.  Based on that business card, the retailer delivered the appliances.
1. Why should Bruce be bound to pay for the appliances?
2. Why should Bruce not be bound to pay for the appliances?

  1. Bruce should be bound to pay because he made the business card for Tom. He did not instruct that Tom couldn't use it and Tom is using it to improve Tom's building. Its a work-related purchase.

Bruce should not be bound to pay because he didn't personally authorize any purchases under his name

  4. yes bruce need to pay up because he owns the apartments and he gave tom a manager card .
one reason that he shouldn't have to pay is because he wasn't consulted but he really didnt need to be .

  5. Bruce should have to pay for the appliance's because he was hired to be the maintenance manager. as him taking the role of that job there are certain things that has to be done.

Bruce should not have to pay for appliances because its not his job. He was hired to be the maintenance manager and top fix little problems around the apartments. also Tom never told Bruce about the appliances that had to be bought he gave them his business card unknown.

  8. 1. Bruce should be bound to the payments of the appliances because he accepted maintenance from Tom. All repairs and appliances demand payment.
    2. Bruce shouldn't be bound to the payments of the appliances because Tom overstepped on his end and gave appliances to Bruce that may or may not have been needed. Maybe Bruce has all of the given appliances already.

  9. Bruce should pay for them because he took the maintenance from Tom. All of these repairs and appliances demanded payment.

Bruce shouldnt have to pay because Tom went too far with his side and was giving appliances to Bruce.
